DESCRIPTION:
RoadChem 700®is formulated for use in slurry and microsurfacing systems to control the chemical
reactions that occur between the emulsion and the aggregate.
BENEFITS:
- Improves control of
systems
- Provided in concentrate
form
- Compatible with many
polymers
- Used in small quantities
- Enhances adhesion
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
Appearance: Amber soft paste
Flash point: >339F (>170C)
Specific gravity: 0.87 @ 78'F (25'C)
Storage: Store in a cool dry place, do not let the temperature exceed
120F (50C). Use open drums first.
Storage life: 12 months minimum (if stored correctly).
Packaging:
Supplied in steel 205 lt size drums, in 1 tonne totes, or in bulk.
APPLICATION:
RoadChem 700® acts as a retarder or accelerator because it affects
the reaction rate at the aggregate interface. At high temperatures this
will appear as a retardation and at low temperatures this will accelerate the
reaction.
RoadChem 700® is compatible with Aluminium Sulphate retarder additives
and these may be mixed to achieve a variety of effects.
RoadChem700® will significantly enhance adhesion. With many aggregates
a blend of 1: 1 Aluminium Sulphate and RoadChem 700® is best. The
slurry or microsurfacing must be purpose designed using ISSA guidelines. Compatibility
of the RoadChem 700® is determined by laboratory mixes. Levels for
use of RoadChem 700® and RoadChem 700® blends with Aluminium
Sulphate are in the range of 0.03 -0.7% of the concentrate based on aggregate
weight. If mixed with Aluminium Sulphate, use in levels normal for the Aluminium
Sulphate.
PREPARATION OF DELUTE:
The concentrate must be diluted and neutralised to become active. This is usually
done to an 8% solution.
To prepare 100 kg of additive
solution in a tank equipped with a stirrer:
- Melt the additive by
gentle heating.
- Add 86 kg of hot water
(50-60C).
- Add 6 kg of concentrated
Hcl.
- Add 8kg of RoadChem
700.
- Blend well.
- Check pH, adjust to
1. 9 -2. 1.
* Store in steel drums.
