Guidelines for Specifying Slurry Surfacing The specifications are listed in this section for slurry surfacings of several types. Slurry or Microsurfacing?: Microsurfacing is used where thicker overlays are needed. Or where low temperatures and very fast set up time to take traffic soon after laying is required (for example, freeways and very high traffic). It may also be used on high volume airports. Slurry Surfacing is a suitable solution for most arterial roads, residential streets and other paved areas such as ramps, bridges, airports, and parking lots . Polymers or Standard? Polymers give 30% longer life and better stone retention and resistance to bleeding. If you don't require these benefits go to the standard slurry specification. Rut Filling Ruts will vary in depth and width. Filling must be done on tonnage and not an area basis.
The specifications may be used as included in this section. In Rut filling the pavement must not be plastic. Plastic pavement will continue to deform after the rut fill is applied. |
